I will specifically focus on how intoxicating substances were produced, distributed and consumed. I obtained my bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degree in history at the VUB, and spent one semester at the Paris Lodron Universit\u00e4t Salzburg in Austria. During my study at the VUB I also took part in the honours\u2019 program <em>Talent voor Onderzoek<\/em>. In 2023, I completed my master thesis on the gendered dynamics of alcohol consumption in Early Modern Bruges, based on testimonies gathered by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.getuigenissen.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Witnesses project<\/a> of the VUB.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My interests include cultural history, intoxicant history, discourse analysis and postcolonial theory.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am the PhD candidate responsible for the sub study on intoxicants in colonial Central Africa.
